I got the opportunity to spent Christmas in Dubai. The first time I was there 8 years ago and it looked completely different than now.
Dubai was always one of my biggest dreams ever since I was small. I was so in love with the warm weather, the sea and the architecture and the arabian culture. If you want to know what I did while I was there, here are my tips if you are traveling to Dubai.
Where To Stay
If you want to experience a city life with a bit of a getaway, visit Shangri La Hotel Dubai. The room was really nice with unique, clean decor and great view of the city. Not only that but the staff was amazing – and the food options were great too. I was surprised to see that there were two pool areas (one at the top floor with a view and second one in a hidden area with small garden).
What To Do
Dubai is a very unique city which doesn’t look like any other in the world. Dubai strikes me as a cool, modern, and glamorous city with so mixed style and culture. Although it’s a very modern city it has it’s cultural gems as well. Old Town is the area where you can experience the ancient arabian culture.
I recommend starting with the Walk – a street which goes along Jumeirah Beach Area. The walk has a lot of shops, cafes and restaurants.
The place which a bit reminded me of the Walk is Dubai Marina. You can have a walk along the water, enjoy the sights or visit The Dubai Marina Mall.
Don’t miss visiting the tallest building in the world – Burj Khalifa. It has 163 floors in total. You can visit the 124th or 148th floors, or have lunch at the restaurant which is located on the 122th floor. It also has the highest nightclub and the highest place of worship (144th and 158th floors).
Ski Dubai (Mall of the Emirates) is the only place where you can enjoy the winter sport. Haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my to do list for the next time.
Where To Eat
Ladureè is a very chic place for small bites and afternoon teas. It is a great place to start your day before going shopping.
Find Salt is a vintage fast food truck scrolling through Dubai. It has really delicious burgers, ice cream and refreshing lemonades.
Vogue Cafè had a very chic atmosphere. It is a great place to start the night before going out on the town.
