It’s not easy to start a healthy lifestyle right away. Especially if you didn’t do it before. Choosing the right health and fitness apps is a very important step both in motivation and achieving your goals.
To keep myself on track, I am using different kinds of apps which help me with my everyday food, activities and sleep. Here are some of my favorite apps that I’m using right now.
With this app you can start the work out any time without any workout experience.
You can both monitor your workout results and keep track of food and water intake. Most of the workouts require no or minimal equipment. You can choose your own location to work out: at home or at the gym. My favorite part of the app is the scheduling. You can add your workouts directly from the app to your calendar to make sure you never miss your exercises.
Besides, the app has awesome food tracking features. Each day you get 5 completely new recipes. You can use a shopping list and choose ingredients which you like!
MyFitnessPall is a perfect lifestyle tracker. Track your calories, progress and diary or upload your workout data from the other fitness apps. You also can add your meals and recipes or just scan a barcode.
MyFitnessPal focuses on your calories – you should burn more than you consume. If you eat more unhealthy, you should exercise more.
Under Armour Record is the only app which works together with Health Box and it’s own sportswear brand – Under Armour.
I really like this app. It tracks your steps, sleep, nutrition and log any kind of workout from yoga to running. It shows your pace, distance, and calories burned. Nutrition data in the app is powered by MyFitnessPal.
You can easily set goals for sleep, fitness, step activity, nutrition, and weight. See progress to goals by the day, week, month, or year. Or you can challenge yourself and your friends! Follow Under Armour’s elite athletes and see how the pros get it done.
What is a unique feature of this app is that you can connect UA HealthBox (UA Band, UA Scale, UA Heart Rate) and other devices.
I use the Withings app every time I go out. It keeps track of my steps and distance and shows calories burnt. My most favorite parts are that you can create a profile and challenge your friends! You also can unlock unique badges as you reach a certain amount of steps. It’s kind of like a game which makes me more motivated!
Not a lot of iPhone users know that Apple Health app can also be used as a fitness and workout app.
I personally think that it’s really worth a try. First of all you have your vitals all together which can be very useful both while exercising and not. It shows your heart rate, your body temperature and blood pressure. All the data easily synchs with other fitness apps.
Secondly, it has a body measurement section. Here you can track down your weight, your height and your body mass index. It also allows you to see your body fat percentage which is useful to know before setting up a workout goal.
My favorite part is the Medical ID. It shows all vitally important data: your name, your weight, your allergies, and your medical conditions. You can also fill in the emergency numbers. This data will be shown even if your iPhone is locked which is important in emergency situations.
